The IRS is giving Texans a bit of a break when it comes to their taxes.
“Following the recent disaster declaration issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the IRS is providing this relief to the entire state of Texas,” the IRS said in a statement.
The federal agency is giving residents and businesses an additional two months to file their tax returns and pay any owed taxes. The new deadline for Texans is June 15.
This includes 2020 individual and business returns normally due on April 15, as well as various 2020 business returns due on March 15. This also means that Texas taxpayers will have until June 15 to make 2020 IRA contributions.
Texans won't need to file an extension because the new deadline is automatic for anyone living inside the state.
