Last year when Sammy Hagar and The Circle recorded their Lockdown 2020 album, one of the songs they covered was The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
Well, apparently Hagar was fooled because he didn't remember one particular performance of the song with Van Halen in Eddie Van Halen's 5150 studio.
Writing on his Van Hagar Other Half Instagram and Facebook page, he says, "I had actually forgotten about us doing this for some kind of live satellite broadcast ... maybe to Japan??? Whatever it was, it rocks!
"Eddie nailing that synthesizer part and the guitar part all on guitar... and I think Keith Moon would approve of that drum fill. And I think I still have a reoccurring head rash from that scream..."
And Michael Anthony adds, "I remember when we decided to shoot this video live in the studio, I was really excited, seeing as John Entwistle was one of my favorite bass players growing up!
"Interesting though, I remember as we were rehearsing the song a couple times before we recorded it, Ed kept telling me to keep it simple and not to play so busy. I was kind of bummed out because I had learned the song note for note as John Entwistle played it with The Who.
"When The Circle plays this song I get to rip it up like the Ox!!!"
Van Halen also included the song on their first concert album, Live: Right Here, Right Now.
