The Warriors Came Out To Play 44 Years Ago Today

It was 44 years ago today, February 9th, 1979 when The Warriors came out to play in theaters. The story was set in the gang-infested underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000, they outnumber the police 5 to 1, and after the Warriors are blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader's death in the Bronx, they must "bop" their way back to their home turf, Coney Island. The soundtrack features some great tunes including Joe Walsh's "In The City" which plays as the end credits roll. Since its release, The Warriors has since become a cult hit, and it has spawned multiple spinoffs, including video games and a comic book series. In honor of the 43rd Anniversary, check out the original trailer and some of my favorite scenes below.
