It was 59 years ago today when The Beatles were taken to the training camp of boxer Cassius Clay – later known as Muhammad Ali – who was preparing for his fight a week later against heavyweight champion Sonny Liston. The meeting took place at Miami's Fifth Street gym. The band posed for several staged photos with the 22-year old fighter. Two days earlier, the Beatles made their second appearance on 'The Ed Sullivan Show,' which was filmed at the nearby Deauville Hotel. Before going back to England on Feb. 22, they spent a few more days in the Florida sun, where they were treated like royalty.
