It was on this day in 1980 when AC/DC frontman Bon Scott was pronounced dead on arrival at a London hospital after a heavy night’s drinking. Scott was found in the passenger seat of a friend’s parked car. The official coroner’s report stated that he had “drunk himself to death,” after suffocating on his own vomit. But did he? In 2017 author Jesse Fink wrote a book about Bon Scott Bon: The Last Highway: The Untold Story Of Bon Scott And AC/DC’s Back In Black, claiming the singer died as a result of heroin and not alcohol poisoning. “In the end, I think I provided enough new information to show that Bon died from heroin and not from alcohol poisoning. The police investigation and the coroner’s inquest were substandard.”
