Pink Floyd: The Quiet Side of the Moon

As it was, the 50th anniversary of “Dark Side Of The Moon" last year was a very busy time for Pink Floyd. In addition to former member Roger Waters’ release of his solo version of the legendary album, the band dropped their own special remastered edition. But now, thanks to a (kinda confusing) European law, 2024 has started off strong for them too.

In an effort to maintain ownership of copyrighted performances, Pink Floyd has quietly released 18 concerts from 1973 on streaming services to avoid the law’s “use it or lose it” policy that forces artists to release material within 50 years… or it becomes public domain. The shows, dated between March 6th and November 4th, 1973, reportedly range in quality and feature confusing titles like “Live At The Rainbow Theatre, London, UK (early show) - 4 November 1973.” Whew.

Some are speculating Pink Floyd is saving some material for a to-be-released box set later this year. In the meantime, the band also officially dropped their own “high-quality concert recording of their 1974 tour.”
