A New Book from the Late Neil Peart is Coming in May

Neil Peart To Have One Final Book Released In May: One of rock’s greatest drummers, Neil Peart, might be gone (and so might the chances for a new Rush tour)… but he’s still got something to say. Insight Editions has revealed one final book from the musician/writer, “Silver Surfers,” is due for a May 7th release. The work is described as “one last love letter to his beloved classic car collection and gives readers a glimpse of his lifelong passion for cars.” Peart passed away in 2020.

When Rush was on hiatus in the late '90s following the death of Neil Peart's daughter Selena in 1997 and then his wife Jackie 10 months later in June of 1998, it was Robert Plant who helped Geddy Lee overcome his grief.

Plant and Jimmy Page, who like Rush, were on Atlantic Records, were performing in Toronto on July 4th, 1998 and Plant invited Geddy to the show. But he didn't want to go until Plant spoke to him on the phone and convinced him otherwise.

Like Peart, Plant lost a child when his five-year old son Karac died in 1977. And like Geddy, he lost a bandmate and a drummer when John Bonham died in 1980.

Rush were able to overcome their losses to reunite in 2002. Now the question is, will Geddy and Alex Lifeson be able to come together following the death of Peart in 2020.

One person who advocated for them to do so is Paul McCartney, who told them just that when Geddy and Alex performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in London in 2002.

Geddy says, "I will never say a bad word about Paul McCartney because he is an amazing person."

So, we'll just have to see if Geddy and Alex come together to do something. They're both open to it, but Alex doesn't want to tour like they did.
