Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason celebrates a milestone birthday tomorrow as he turns 80.
Born in Birmingham in 1944 and raised in London, he's the only founding member of the band to play in every incarnation and on every album. He's also the only one who gets along with both David Gilmour and Roger Waters.
Their unofficial archivist, he currently leads a Floyd tribute band, Saucerful of Secrets, which plays songs from their catalog recorded before The Dark Side of the Moon.
He also collects and races vintage sports cars; has written four books -- three on his love of cars and one on Floyd; he's also a helicopter pilot and one of the owners of Football Ventures, a consortium that bought Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
