Remembering Eddie Van Halen On His Birthday

Born on this day in 1955, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, the Dutch-American musician, songwriter, producer, and co-founder of Van Halen, would have turned 69. Sadly, we lost Eddie on October 6, 2020, after a courageous battle with throat and lung cancer, he was 65. Eddie is considered one of the best and most influential guitarists in the history of rock music and was well known for popularizing the tapping guitar solo technique, allowing rapid arpeggios to be played with two hands on the fretboard.

In this memory, check out this video of Eddie rockin' "Eruption," the last time Van Halen played Dallas, September 23, 2015, at the (then) Gexa Energy Pavilion, above.
