Sammy Hagar isn't fazed by the revelation that he's not really a Hagar.
Earlier this week, we reported on his appearance on the PBS show Finding Your Roots, in which he found out that his DNA does not match any men with the last name Hagar -- meaning that genetically, that's not his last name. However, his DNA did match 27 men with the last name Belcher.
But he said on social media that the new info doesn't really bother him.
In other Sammy Hagar news......
Sammy Hagar's 2015 million-dollar plus La Ferrari was supposed to go up for bids Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, but it was pulled due to it needing a new battery, which you can't get at your local auto store.
But, Hagar did put in appearance Saturday, telling those on hand and watching on TV that he will be back on October 12th, also in Scottsdale, to sell it, with an estimated price tag of upwards of five-million.
The 12th is the day before Sammy's 77th birthday, meaning he'll have to fly up from his Birthday Bash at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Hagar said it was ironic that it's being sold then because his birthday is noted on the car's steering wheel.
On Friday, Hagar and Michael Anthony joined the band Red Voodoo -- named after his 1999 album -- at his Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum Live Music Stage on the auction grounds.
Among the songs they did were:
- "Finish What Ya Started" - Van Halen
- "Mas Tequila"
- "Heavy Metal"
- "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy"
- "There's Only One Way to Rock"
- "I Can't Drive 55"
Hagar, an avid car collector, joked with the audience, saying, "I'm broke. I bought every car that came across the block tonight."
And later on he added, "This is so awesome. For me, this is like heaven. I would rather be here than at a Rolling Stones concert. All these cars!!!"
Friday would have been Eddie Van Halen's 69th and Hagar paid tribute by posting a video of him and Eddie getting their haircut by their wives -- Valerie Bertinelli (Eddie) and Kari, along with Hagar's son Aaron.
He captioned it with, "I sure miss hanging out with this guy. Happy birthday my brother, miss you."
And on the Van Halen website was a quote posted by Eddie's family from artist Michelangelo.
"The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark."
Eddie died on October 6th, 2020 from cancer. He was 65.
