The Beatles have entered the arena of bio-pics, but, like everything with the Fab Four, there's a twist.
They have given approval, and licensed their music, for the making of four distinct theatrical feature films -- one from each band member's point-of-view.
Academy Award-winning British director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, 1917, and two James Bond films, Skyfall and Spectre) conceived the idea and will direct each one, with the goal being to have all four intersect to tell the story of the band.
They will be released in 2027.
Of course this is not the first attempt at a bio-pic on the band or their members. However, it is the first time they've officially sanctioned one, outside of their Anthology documentary in 1995.
The others include:
- Birth of The Beatles (1979)
- Backbeat (1994)
- Two of Us (2000 TV Movie)
- In His Life: The John Lennon Story (2000 TV Movie)
- Nowhere Boy (2009)
- Yesterday (2019)
