The honors continue to pour in for “Bennie And The Jets” singer-songwriter duo Elton John and Bernie Taupin. But the most recent accolades for the longtime rockers featured a cast of A-list musicians.
The pair were given the Library Of Congress’ Gershwin Prize For Popular Song in Washington DC Wednesday night. Among those who performed the duo’s songs at the ceremony were Metallica (“Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding”), Annie Lennox (“Border Song”), and Brandi Carlile and Joni Mitchell with “I’m Still Standing.”
“We never thought that one day this might be bestowed upon us,” John said of his partnership with Taupin. “It’s an incredible honor for two British guys to be recognized like this.” And for fans that are interested, the event will be available to stream on PBS starting April 8th.
