50 Years Ago Today Skynyrd Avoided Sophomore Slump On 'Second Helping'

Released on this day in 1974, Second Helping is the second studio album by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It featured the singles "Don't Ask Me No Questions", "The Ballad Of Curtis Loew", "Call Me The Breeze", and the band's biggest hit single, "Sweet Home Alabama," an answer to Neil Young's "Southern Man, helping propel the album to #12 on the Billboard album charts. It was certified Gold on September 20, 1974, Platinum and 2x Platinum on July 21, 1987.
