"[The day of the Induction ceremony] October 19th will be an emotional day for me, Lou Gramm, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliott, and Rick Wills, and a very special moment for the families of Ian McDonald and Ed Gagliardi.
"The leadership of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Chairman, John Sykes, and Nominating Committee Chairman, Rick Krim, has brought a new era of inclusivity and relevance that reflects all that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should be, and we are proud to become a part of it. Long may it continue.”
As for whether or not Jones will perform is due to how he is feels following being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Asked about Foreigner's contribution to the history of music, singer Lou Gramm tells us they helped resurrect rock music.
Ozzy Osbourne and Peter Frampton have reacted to being elected for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Ozzy, who was elected on his first nomination, despite being eligible since 2005, tells Billboard this "feels different" from his induction as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006.
"My solo career has been a much larger part of my overall music career as a whole,” and finishing fourth in the Fab Vote "feels more special, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way.”
Frampton, who turns 74 this Monday, was also elected on his first nomination, despite being eligible since 1997.
He tells Billboard, “I think I’m a little bit in shock, and speechless. I never expected this.
"People always said, ‘You should be in.’ I said, ‘Eh, what is to be,’ y’know? So mixed emotions, because it’s something that I just never expected, whereas other people did for me. It’s wonderful.”
The Class of 2024, which also includes Foreigner, Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Kool & The Gang, and Mary J. Blige, along with special recognition to Jimmy Buffett, Dionne Warwick, John Mayall, Alexis Korner, the MC5 and others, will be held at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland on October 19th.
