Frampton & Foreigner's Lou Gramm Celebrate Induction into R&R Hall of Fame

Peter Frampton celebrated his 74th birthday and election for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by going to lunch with his daughter and granddaughter yesterday.

Frampton has been eligible since 1997, which was 25 years after the release of his first album, 1972's Wind of Change, and this was the first time he was nominated.

The first person he called upon hearing the news was Sheryl Crow, his neighbor in Nashville, who was inducted last year, and who had Peter perform with her at the 2023 ceremony.

Frampton, who finished second in the Fan Vote behind the Dave Matthews Band, adds that his phone and email have been blowing up since the announcement was made.

One of those who reached out was producer Glyn Johns who was the engineer when Frampton and his teenage band, The Preachers, did a session 60 years ago when he was just 13. Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman was the producer. Frampton told Johns he blamed him, saying, "It's yours and Bill's fault."

Rounding out the Class of 2024 are Ozzy OsbourneCherMary J. BligeA Tribe Called Quest, and Kool & the Gang.

The Induction Ceremony will be held on October 19th in Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Meanwhile, Foreigner singer Lou Gramm says he will perform at the induction ceremony into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and that the band will perform 2 songs together.

Joining Lou in the Hall are Foreigner founder, guitarist and principal songwriter Mick Jones, keyboardist Al Greenwood, drummer Dennis Elliott, bassist Rick Wills, late guitarist Ian McDonald and late bassist Ed Gagliardi.

Lou adds that he thought he would have heard from some of his former bandmates by now, but adds that he will reach out to them at some point.

Foreigner have sent a letter to their fan base thanking them for their support, and for casting their ballots in Fan Vote, for which they finished third behind the Dave Matthews Band at one and Peter Frampton two.

Dear Foreigner family,

With hearts full of gratitude, we reach out to you today to share a momentous milestone in the odyssey of FOREIGNER. We have been announced as 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, an honor that is as much yours as it is ours.

As Mick Jones eloquently stated, “I was thrilled to learn of FOREIGNER’s nomination, and this confirmation of our coming membership in the home of my peers is a priceless highlight of my career. October 19th will be an emotional day for me, Lou, Al, Dennis, and Rick, and a very special moment for the families of Ian and Ed.”

This incredible journey of ours could not have reached such a pinnacle without your unwavering support and enthusiasm. In celebration and as a sincere thank you, FOREIGNER will be adding additional shows to our Farewell Tour, a gesture to honor the support you've so generously provided us over the years.

Please join us in spirit on October 19, 2024, in Cleveland, as we stand alongside our peers in a ceremony that commemorates our shared history and love for rock & roll. This induction is a tribute to the music, the memories, and most importantly, to you, our fans.

Stay tuned for more details on the additional shows. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Rock on,
