There were quite a few star sightings Wednesday night in the Jersey Shore town of West Long Branch as John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples and Dion DiMucci received American Music Honors from the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University.
Naturally Springsteen was on hand, presenting his good friend John Mellencamp.
As for the rest of the evening, Steve Van Zandt, whose Disciples of Soul were the house band, presented Dion DiMucci.
Springsteen manager Jon Landau, who produced Jackson's Browne's The Pretender, honored his former client.
And Darlene Love presented Mavis Staples.
As for performances...
- John Mellencamp - solo acoustic version of "Jack & Diane"
- Bruce Springsteen - Mellencamp's "Small Town" with John joining in halfway through
- Dion - "The Wanderer"
- Mavis Staples - “If You’re Ready (Come Go With Me)”
- Jackson Browne - "Running on Empty" and "Take it Easy"
