Happy 'Cinco De Morrow' Dallas Stars Fans

It happened 16 years ago TODAY.

It was the Spring of 2008 and the Dallas Stars were in a heated Playoff battle with the hated San Jose Sharks. Game 6 of the Series took place at American Airlines Center, and began on Sunday, May 4th, 2008, but wouldn't end until the wee hours of the morning on May 5th. The Stars and Sharks ended regulation in a 1-1 tie. One overtime period wouldn't decide it. Two overtime periods ... nothing. Three overtimes ... still tied. In 2008 I was Music Director for the Stars, and it was my responsibility to find the music to keep people excited (and awake!) During each intermission the remaining fans were camped out like refugees, sprawling across seats, laying down in the concourses. It was 1am and there were still 14,000 fans waiting to go crazy! Then, in the FOURTH overtime, Dallas Stars Captain Brenden Morrow would finally score on the power-play, thanks to a sweet feed from Stephan Robidas. The horn sounded, the streamers descended, and yes... the fans went crazy! The goal came at 9:03 of the 4th OT, and it eliminated the San Jose Sharks and allowed the Stars to move on to the Western Conference Finals. The game lasted five hours, and 14 minutes.

Happy Cinco De Morrow!!
