Slash Talks About His New Blues-Heavy Solo Album, 'Orgy of the Damned"

Slash's blues-heavy Orgy of the Damned solo album will be out a week from today, with a list of guest vocalists that includes The Black Crowes' Chris RobinsonZZ Top's Billy GibbonsBad Company's Paul Rodgers and AC/DC's Brian Johnson, who sings the already released cover of "Killing Floor" by the great Chicago blues shouter Howlin' Wolf.

Slash told us that having Johnson trade his signature AC/DC shriek for a deeper blues growl wasn't as big a stretch as people might think.

Slash also explained why he chose the fairly un-blues-like title Orgy of the Damned for the album.

In other Slash news, Gibson announced today that it has released the very limited Slash 1963 ES-335 Collector’s Edition, a replica of the guitar he used on "more than a few songs" on Orgy of the Damned. Only 50 of these hand-signed guitars will be available exclusively via the Gibson Garage Nashville, and purchasers will also receive an invitation to a VIP live performance by Slash at the Gibson Garage this summer.

By the way, Slash will play Texas Truct CU Theatre in Grand Prarie on August 17th.
