David Gilmour Teams Up with his Daughter for "Between Two Points"

David Gilmour's forthcoming album, Luck and Strange, is a family affair.

His wife, novelist Polly Samson, wrote the majority of the lyrics, and their 22-year-old daughter Romany sings and plays harp on the second single, a cover of The Montgolfier Brothers' 1999 song "Between Two Points."

Proud papa Gilmour says, "I’ve had that song on my playlist since it was released. More recently I mentioned it to one or two people: I assumed that it had been a hit, but no one knew it. I asked Romany to give it a go...

"I realized that Romany has exactly the right sort of vulnerability and youth for the song. In fact, she was halfway through an essay with a train to catch when we asked her: ‘OK, I'll sing it once, put the mic on’ and that is 90% of the finished vocal.”

They also shot a video for the song in London and Manchester, with David on guitars and featuring Romany on vocals and harp. David's son and Romany's brother Gabriel provides background vocals.

Luck and Strange will be released on September 6th, and there will be a limited-edition deluxe edition that will include bonus tracks and a hardcover book by Thames & Hudson featuring photographs taken by Polly during the recording of the album. The deluxe editions will be limited to one run only.
