Elton John gets Emotional at Premiere of New Documentary

UPDATE TO BELOW STORY.....

An emotional Elton John fought back tears as he discussed his family while taking questions after the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Elton John: Never Too Late.

The film, co-directed by R.J. Cutler and Elton's husband David Furnish, looks at his career from his first Dodger Stadium concert in October, 1975 to his final U.S. show there on November 20th, 2022.

Elton told the crowd at Roy Thomson Hall that “On my tombstone, I don’t want it to say he sold a million records. I want it to say he was a great dad and great husband.”

He began tearing up as he said, “The thing I love about this movie is that I have him [Furnish] and my two sons. I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved. I hope to keep making music, but I want to be home and treasure them. Having a number-one album is really nice for five minutes, but this is a lifetime.” (Variety)

Elton John‘s new documentary, Never Too Late, will include a new song.

The doc covers his career through the final U.S. shows of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour -- November 17th, 19th and 20th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles -- but there's no word on the title of the song or if it's part of the new album he will be releasing with longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin.

After its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 6th, Never Too Late will be screened at the New York Film Festival on September 17th followed by the BFI London Film Festival on October 10th. Then it's on to theaters on November 15th before landing on Disney+ on December 13th.
