Legendary guitarist, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and co-founding member of Steely Dan, Walter Becker passed away on this day in 2017 at the age of 67 after a battle with esophageal cancer. In his honor, I thought it might be a good time to revisit one of my favorite episodes of Classic Albums: Steely Dan's Aja. Originally released in 1977 Aja became the group's best-selling album. Peaking at No. 3 on the U.S. charts and No. 5 in the United Kingdom, it was the band's first platinum album, eventually selling over 5 million copies. In 1978, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Non-Classical Recording. In 2003, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and it is widely regarded as one of the best test recordings for audiophiles because of its high production standards. In honor of Walter Becker 02.20.1950 - 09.03.2017 here's a look at the making of Steely Dan's Aja
