Ringo Starr has posted a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals for his late-summer All-Starr Band tour, which started Saturday in San Diego. On this leg he’s playing the same model drum kit he used when The Beatles performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964. “I had the small kit because I wanted to be seen,” says Ringo.

Kansas have named Dan McGowan to replace Billy Greer on bass after 39 years. McGowan has been filling in for Greer on this year’s tour.

Janis Joplin biopic is in the worksShailene Woodley will be starring in the movie as Joplin…and she’s also producing it! Joplin is sadly and famously part of the "27 club." There have been numerous attempts to make a biopic about Joplin, but so far none have crossed the finish line. The movie is expected to shoot over 30 days…and it’s getting a helping hand from the state of California. The biopic is getting $2.5-million in tax credits from the California Film Commission. “California meant so much to Janis Joplin…from the stoops of San Francisco to the wooden walls of Sunset Sound, the state became the stage upon which she explored not just the world of music, but the world of her vibrant humanity,” Woodley shares in a statement.
