Allman Brothers Band Releasing Final Concert October 25th

The Allman Brothers Band will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their final show, October 28th, 2014 at the Beacon Theatre in New York, by releasing it later this month and next.

Final Concert 10-28-14 has been remastered with improved sound quality and will be available digitally on October 25th, followed by a three-CD package with a 16-page booklet featuring exclusive photos and liner notes on November 22nd.

Despite being from Jacksonville, Florida and making their mark while based in Macon, Georgia, the Brothers did an annual residency at New York's Beacon Theatre starting in 1989. They played 237 shows there, which is why they decided that's where they would do their final show.

Guitarist Warren Haynes put together a career-spanning 28-song set list that they played over three sets, which ended early in the morning of October 29th, the 43rd anniversary of Duane’s Allman’s passing.

The final song they did was the first one they ever rehearsed on March 26th, 1969 -- a cover of Muddy Waters' "Trouble No More." When they finished, and the audience giving them a standing ovation, Gregg Allman, one of the three original members on stage that night along with Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson, reflected on that moment when he stepped up to the microphone for a final word.

IN OTHER ALLMANN BROTHERS NEWS.....

Onetime Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Johnny Neel died of heart failure on Sunday at age 70. He was in the band in 1989 and 1990, as well as playing in bands led by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts. Among those paying tribute are Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule guitarist Warren Haynes, and Michael McDonald. Haynes says, “Johnny’s music and his legend will live on forever.” and McDonald adds, “His musical gift was legendary by then and I consider it an honor to have crossed musical paths with him if only briefly.”
