Stevie Nicks was the musical guest this weekend on Saturday Night Live, doing "Edge of Seventeen" off her first album, 1981's Bella Donna, and her new one, "The Lighthouse," which she released last month.
Prior to her appearance, she told People, "It’s just about the biggest thing you can do, bigger than a stadium show because it’s going to go out all over the world.
“So if you wanna talk about being nervous about something! It doesn’t matter how many shows you’ve done or how much you practice, you’re going to be nervous! You can never say that Saturday Night Live does not help you to gain lots of new followers, younger people, older people, etc. And so to be asked to do it again … has thrown me into an absolute nervous frenzy, but I’m really excited.”
Stevie also put her "acting" and singing skills to the test in promos for the show.
Appearing alongside host and fellow singer Ariana Grande and cast member Bowen Yang, she tells them she won't sing in the promo.
So naturally they start to recite some of her lyrics -- such as when Yang says it's Ariana's second time hosting, to which she says, “You know what they say, lightning strikes, maybe once,” with Bowen adding, “Maybe twice,” which is a lyric in "Gypsy."
Stevie "warns" them that she can't be tricked into singing, which is followed by Yang asking Ariana how her weekend was, and she responds, “It was good, you know, I climbed a mountain and I turned around,” with Bowen adding, “That’s so funny cause I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills,” which are lyrics in “Landslide.”
At that point Stevie "gives in," singing, “And the landslide brought me down.”
This was her second time on the show, with the first one coming 41 years ago -- December 1983, when she performed “Stand Back” and “Nightbird.”
