Released on this day in 1977, News of the World is the sixth studio album by Queen. In 1977, punk rock sparked a massive backlash towards progressive artists like Queen, to which the band responded by simplifying their sound and embracing a more spontaneous hard rock sound. Featuring the anthems "We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions" as well as "Sheer Heart Attack" and one of my all-time fave Queen songs "Get Down Make Love" the album went 4x platinum in the United States, and would sell over 10 million copies worldwide, and became the band's best-selling studio album to date.
