Mark Farner, formerly of Grand Funk Railroad, has a New Album Out Today

Grand Funk Railroad's founding singer and guitarist Mark Farner has a new album out this Friday.

Closer to My Home was produced by Farner and Mark Slaughter and contains eight new songs and a re-recording of Grand Funk's "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)" in celebration of next year being its 55th anniversary. The CD contains a bonus track, "Friends For Forever," which was written by Jim Peterik from The Ides of March and Survivor.

“These songs are honest and from my heart,” says Farner. “The collaboration with Jim and Mark came from a place of trust and that makes the whole experience so much more rewarding as songwriters. The audience can feel that and these songs reflect those very human moments that you can’t find creating a song from a computer.”

Farner, who is no longer a member of Grand Funk, plans to tour behind the album next year.
