On This Day In 1967, Rolling Stone Magazine Was Born

It was 57 years ago today, November 9, 1967, Rolling Stone magazine published its first issue in San Francisco - 35 thousand copies - featuring John Lennon on the cover. Four years ago, Rolling Stone magazine marked its 50th anniversary with an HBO documentary, a giant coffee-table book, and a retrospective at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Editor and publisher Jann Wenner, who was a 21-year-old with no magazine experience when he launched Rolling Stone in 1967, talked with the TODAY Show about the magazine's impact, and how it came to represent the voice of the rock generation.
