Released on this day in 1976, Hotel California is the fifth studio album by the Eagles, and is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Two singles from the album went to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100: "New Kid in Town" and the title track "Hotel California," and "Life in the Fast Lane" went to number 11. The album has sold over 32 million copies worldwide. It won the band two Grammy Awards for "Hotel California" and "New Kid in Town". The album was nominated for Album of the Year but lost to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours
