Drummer Matt Sorum has dashed Aerosmith fans' hopes that the band could tour again after Steven Tyler's recent live performance at Jam For Janie in Los Angeles.

Tyler performed three Aerosmith songs – Dream OnSweet Emotion and Walk This Way – as part of a star-studded performance that included Sorum, Mick Fleetwood, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Marcus King, Linda Perry and James LoMenzo.

Jam For Janie is the annual show put together by Tyler to raise money for Janie's Fund which was named after Aerosmith's 1989 hit Janie's Got A Gun, was founded by Tyler in 2015 and supports vulnerable girls who've suffered abuse and neglect.

Steven Tyler returned to the stage Sunday night in Hollywood for his first public performance since rupturing his larynx in 2023.

The occasion was his sixth annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party at the Hollywood Palladium, and, appropriately enough, he did six songs:

  • Extreme's "More Than Words" with Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and Mick Fleetwood
  • "Toys in the Attic"
  • "Dream On" with Lainey Wilson
  • "Sweet Emotion" with Aerosmith bassist and the song's co-writer Tom Hamilton, plus Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes
  • "Walk This Way" with Jessie J
  • Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker"

Contrary to previous reports, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry was not present due a family matter, but he sent along a video greeting and guitar for the auction.

Proceeds benefit Janie’s Fund, which Tyler founded to aid young women and girls who have survived abuse; and this year it also raised money for the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighter’s Fund.

He says, “What the Los Angeles community has endured with these wildfires is unthinkable. Music has healing powers and we hope to bring a moment of joy and levity to our first-responder firefighters and those most affected by the fires. The trauma experienced by the girls we work with is also unthinkable and we will continue to shed light and support the amazing work of Janie’s Fund.”
