Platt was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Writing on Facebook, he says he met with his doctor on Thursday and will undergo surgery on March 4th.

"So far, the prognosis has been very good. I'm looking forward to getting this behind me and being back in the saddle as soon as possible. I appreciate the outpouring of support I've been receiving. Thank you."

Kansas, who postponed two shows and canceled another in the wake of Platt's diagnosis, are scheduled to appear on the Rock & Romance Cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 15th followed by more tour dates starting in April.

Platt, who joined Kansas in 2014, is 62.
