Journey were forced to cut short their show Friday at The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in NRG Stadium.
Arnel Pineda was singing "Don't Stop Believin'" on an elevated extended arm of the stage, and ironically, just as he was finishing the second verse -- "A singer in a smokey room/ A smell of wine and cheap perfume/ For a smile they can share the night/ It...goes on and on and on and on" the power was cut, leaving the 72,000 on hand to sing the chorus while wondering what was happening.
After being escorted off the stage, drummer Deen Castronovo took to Instagram to say, "Hey, Houston! An act of God tonight! Fire broke out underneath the stage -- right under my drum riser! I was literally on fire for four-and-a-half songs, all the power cables melted, and the show was a BUST! That doesn’t mean we won’t be back soon, because we love you all-- and WE WILL RETURN!"
And on Saturday. guitarist Neal Schon said, "Thank you Houston for singing 'Don’t Stop Believin’' before we were rushed off the stage because of an electrical fire and were not able to return. I felt terrible for our fans and offered to play tonight and make it up to y’all but they were not able to make it happen so until next time."
