MUSIC NEWS: Elton John, Queen, and Happy Gilmore 2

Elton John celebrated his 35th year of sobriety on Tuesday.

He posted a photo of cards and flowers on social media, writing, "Grateful for all the love on my sobriety birthday."

IN OTHER MUSIC NEWS...

John Deacon, bassist for Queen, has long been retired...not just from music, but public life in general.

So when he surfaces in any capacity as part of the legendary band, it's newsworthy. The three surviving members of the original band lineup have come together to put their autographs on a vinyl copy of the band's "A Night At The Opera" album for charity.

While this doesn't sound like much (in fact, Brian May and Roger Taylor are often involved in charitable endeavors), the inclusion of Deacon (who hasn't signed anything as a member of Queen since 1997) makes this a very rare occasion.

The album will be up for silent auction at the annual Freddie Mercury Birthday Party in Montreux, a fundraiser for a charity set up in Mercury’s name to help raise funds for HIV and AIDS awareness, the disease that took the former lead singer's life in 1991.

Details on the auction can be found here

Songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd (“Tuesday’s Gone”), Foreigner (“Juke Box Hero”) and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (“The Waiting”) have seen an uptick in streams due to them being featured in Adam Sandler's new movie, Happy Gilmore 2.
