Heart's Ann Wilson Mourns the Loss of "Magic Man"

Mike Fisher, guitarist and co-founder of the band that became Heart before Ann and Nancy Wilson joined, has died.

His brother, Heart's original drummer Roger Fisherposted the news, saying, "It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that our family has experienced the loss of the incredible spirit Michael Fisher was to all of us. There are no adequate words to describe how Mike’s smile could bring such a light to every thing; his way of compelling us to feel the weight of ideas or shared experiences; his awe of nature and the unknown; his passion for new technology, invention and discovery; his enthusiasm for life and capacity to find the magic in every moment; and his impact and inspiration to the band Heart, and the music world are immeasurable... Michael will forever be loved and missed by all of us."

Michael died at home surrounded by his wife, Dani, brother Roger and sister Kay, and his 11 children."

Ann Wilson, who became romantically involved with Fisher, the inspiration for their song "Magic Man," says, "Michael lived life fully and loved completely. Now he is taking his long journey to the next incarnation he always believed would come.

He was a beautiful human…a profound soul ... a divine spirit. Bon voyage, my old love."

Mike Fisher left the band in the late '60s / early '70s when he moved to Canada upon being drafted into the Army. He sneaked back into the U.S. a few years later and met Ann, who was then in the band. They fell for one another and she moved with him to Canada. He then went on to manage Heart while his his brother Roger remained in the band and dated Nancy Wilson.
