Cheap Trick have recorded a Christmas album for release after Halloween.
Bassist Tom Petersson says, "It came out great! We did one standard and then all sorts of different songs on there, it’s really cool." Among the covers is Roy Wood's British perennial "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday."
Cheap Trick have delved into seasonal songs before. They did "I Want You for Christmas," a reworking of "I Want You to Want Me," for 2012's A Very Special Christmas; and redid "Come On, Come" from In Color as "Come on Christmas" in 2010.
This will be Cheap Trick's third new album in less than two years.
Also in the works is a limited-edition reissue project in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the band's self-titled debut album.
Cheap Trick was joined by Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna on “Surrender” Tuesday in Syracuse, New York, the opening night of their tour with Foreignerand Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience.
Cheap Trick will release a Christmas album in the fall.
