Brian May posted an acoustic performance of his Queen song "39" on Instagram over the weekend. It was an appropriate choice as it was his 3,900th post.
It was also the 39th song Queen released, the B-side to "You're My Best Friend" -- both on 1975's A Night At the Opera.
This version sees May doing it acoustically outside on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, and home to the Teide Observatory. May, an astrophysicist, is there filming a video for the April 22nd reissue of his second album, Another World.
It was in Teide National Park that May wrote another Queen song, "Tie Your Mother Down," from A Day At the Races, the followup to A Night At the Opera.
"39" is about a group of space explorers who embark on a year-long voyage. However, upon their return, they realize that 100 years passed because of the time dilation effect in Einstein's special theory of relativity, and their loved ones either being much older or dead.
