Ava Maybee was listed as a 20-year-old college student, but her full name is Ava Maybee Cardoso-Smith, and she's the daughter of Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. She auditioned by doing a cover of "Lately" by Stevie Wonder. (Her dad's band had their first breakthrough rock hit with a cover of Wonder's "Higher Ground.")
The Idol judges all gave her a thumbs up and she made the Hollywood round.
