Bob Dylan and Bobby Neuwirth Hanging at a Party

Bob Neuwirth — the singer-songwriter who was a longtime friend of Bob Dylan, appeared in the Dylan films Don’t Look Back and Renaldo and Clara, helped him assemble his Rolling Thunder Revue tour, and whose legs are seen behind Dylan on the cover of his Highway 61 Revisited album — died Wednesday at the age of 82. Neuwirth also co-wrote his friend Janis Joplin’s “Mercedes Benz” and claimed that he introduced Joplin to the Kris Kristofferson song "Me and Bobby McGee."
