Queen+Adam Lambert will take time out from their Rhapsody Tour on Saturday to open Platinum Party at the Palace, a two-and-a-half hour all-star concert in the backyard of London's Buckingham Palace.
The event is in celebration of Elizabeth the Second's 70 years on the throne as Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms.
Guitarist Brian May says, “20 years after playing the Queen’s glorious Golden Jubilee, we’re very happy to be invited again. Then there was a moment when I wondered…after [playing on the] Buckingham Palace roof [then] where can you go? Well…you will see!!!”
In addition to Queen, Saturday's show will also feature Elton John (via video), Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, George Ezra, Nile Rodgers, Alicia Keys, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Diana Ross, who will close things out.
In 2002, Brian May and Roger Taylor, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams, Joe Cocker, Phil Collins, Ray Davies, Rod Stewart, Steve Winwood, Brian Wilson and many others performed at the Queen's Golden Jubilee, also in the backyard of Buckingham Palace.
Like Saturday's show, May was part of the opening, as he performed "God Save the Queen" on the roof of Buckingham Palace.
