Ringo Starr turns 82 today, and, as has been the case since 2008, his wish is that at noon your time you say, think, text or post "Peace & Love."
Ringo will celebrate privately in Los Angeles with his wife Barbara and members of his All Starr Band -- Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay, Warren Ham and Gregg Bissonette -- as well as friends Benmont Tench, Jim Keltner, Richard Marx, Matt Sorum, Ed Begley Jr., Linda Perry, Diane Warren, and Roy Jr. and Alex Orbison.
In addition to giving his traditional “Peace and Love” at noon, Ringo will signal the Artemis Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas to beam his message and the songs "Let’s Change the World” and “Star Song” (the music the stars made upon his birth as mapped out by Artemis) to the International Space Station, where it will orbit around the Earth, passing over many countries and much of the Earth's population and beaming back down messages of peace and love while also traveling out to distant stars.
In addition to his own celebration, there will be gatherings around the world, including Australia; Japan; Russia; Greece; Israel; Switzerland; Germany; Spain; Italy; England; Argentina; Brazil; Peru; Panama; El Salvador; Guatemala; Costa Rica; South Africa, and Stateside in New York City; Interlochen, Michigan at the Center for the Arts; Cleveland at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; and Fairfield, Iowa at Marharshi University.
In 2020, Ringo received birthday wishes from the International Space Station.
