A Steely Dan cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Carey,” reportedly recorded in 2001, has surfaced on YouTube.
The description that accompanies the video says it was intended for the 2007 album A Tribute to Joni Mitchell, but was left off.
Joni wrote "Carey" following an encounter with a chef in Crete, and recorded it for her fourth album, 1971's Blue.
Steely Dan, which is just Donald Fagen backed by a band, is on tour with the next show set for July 13th in Franklin, Tennessee. Walter Becker, Fagen's partner, died in 2017.
