Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has served at the country's leading expert on COVID for more than two years, confirmed on Monday that he plans to retire at the end of President Biden's term, after more than five decades of working for the government.
Fauci said, "By the time we get to the end of the Biden administration term, I feel it would be time for me to step down from this position."
However, the 81-year-old waffled a little bit about retiring by 2025, telling The New York times that he would "almost certainly" retire by 2025, but then saying on CNN that Monday's news wasn't his official retirement announcement. (The Washington Post)
