This years' Bo & Jim Bash, featuring the Styx and REO Speedwagon Live & UnZoomed Tour had a little blip when special guest Loverboy had to skip four shows due to a bandmember contracting COVID. But REO kept their music alive by adding "Working For the Weekend" to their set.
REO singer Kevin Cronin says they had "so much fun playing and singing the song [they] may have to leave it in [their] set even when Loverboy returns. Maybe bands can be like baseball teams, and trade songs. Maybe Loverboy could do 'Ridin the Storm Out.' That seems like a good trade...
"I wonder if Styx would take 'Keep Pushin'' in a trade for 'Blue Collar Man'…I love singing that song! Okay, we could throw in 'Tough Guys,' but not the Little Rascals intro..."
The tour continues this Wednesday in Raleigh, North Carolina followed by Bristow, Virginia on Friday and Camden, New Jersey on Saturday.
REO had a special guest at their recent show in Dallas when Lisa Loeb joined them on "Keep on Loving You."
Cronin says, "Lisa Loeb is a Dallas native and was in town visiting family. She called the afternoon of our show to say ‘hi,’ one thing led to another, and she ended up on stage with us. Lisa knew ‘Keep on Loving You,’ and told me she played it in her band Nine Stories, with Dweezil Zappa on guitar (check out her live video, it is very cool, and Dweezil nails the Richrath solo)...
"I love winging it. A last-minute collaboration is fun and exciting. It keeps us young. My wife Lisa was with me, so both Lisas came out and sang with us on the keep on rolling refrain…big fun!"
