For the last year, Primus has been playing Rush’s “Farewell to Kings” album straight through during live shows as a tribute to the band, but on Wednesday night the “South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert” was something special. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson hit the stage at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater to play “Closer to the Heart” with the band.
Rush drummer Neil Peart died in 2020, and Wednesday’s appearance was the first time the remaining two members of the band have played together in public. Who filled in on drums? “South Park” co-creator Matt Stone, who also played bass and ukulele during the show.
