The Very "Media Shy" Alex Van Halen Comments on Anniv. of Brother's Death

The very media-shy Alex Van Halen took to his socials on Thursday to honor his late brother Eddie Van Halen on the second anniversary of his death.

In his first post since Eddie's birthday in January, Alex wrote, "Hey Ed, we miss you. We love you. The Van Halen Family."

There's also a photo of him carrying Eddie on his shoulders, along with a quote from the Greek philosopher Plato: "The soul of man is immortal and imperishable." His nephew and former bandmate Wolfgang Van Halen commented, "Love you, Al."

In other Van Halen news, guitarist Mike Thorne, who played with Chris Cornell, has revealed that Cornell and Eddie Van Halen had often talked about working together.

Not only that, but Thorne told The Mitch Lafon and Jeremy White Show podcast that Cornell had a song for his Scream album that Van Halen agreed to play on and that he and Cornell had begun recording Eddie's part for it at Van Halen's 5150 studio. But unfortunately, that track was never completed.

Thorne was the guitarist in Cornell's band for tours supporting both Scream and his Carry On album, and backed Chris's daughter Toni when she covered Prince's "Nothing Compares 2U" on Jimmy Fallon last December as a tribute to her dad.
