George Harrison died 21 years ago yesterday, November 29th, 2001, from cancer. He was 58.
Olivia was in New York on November 20th at the 92nd Street Y where she was interviewed by her friend, director Martin Scorsese, about her book, Came the Lightening – Twenty Poems for George. Scorsese who put together the 2011 documentary on George, Living in the Material World.
A year later, November 29th, 2002, Olivia along with Eric Clapton staged the all-star tribute, Concert for George, at London's Royal Albert Hall.
The Concert for George also featured Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Gary Brooker, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Jim Capaldi, the Monty Python troupe and Ravi Shankar.
