Paul McCartney is working on new music.
In the "You Gave Me the Answer" column on his website he says, "I’ve been recording with a couple of people, so I’m looking forward to doing even more.
"I’ve started working with this producer called Andrew Watt, and he’s very interesting -- we’ve had some fun. Beyond that, I don’t have anything massive planned...at the moment!"
No surprise that McCartney has turned to Watt, as he's one of the more in-demand producers at the moment, known for his work with Elton John, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam and Morrissey.
McCartney typically turns to the hottest producer at the time for his next project, but never has the success with his album that they had with other artists. Previous examples include:
- Jeff Lynne for Flaming Pie after Lynne had success with George Harrison, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and The Traveling Wilburys
- David Kahne on Driving Rain -- Stevie Nicks, Sublime, Sugar Ray
- Nigel Godrich on Chaos and Creation in the Backyard -- Radiohead, R.E.M., U2
- Mark Ronson, Giles Martin, Paul Epworth and Ethan Johns on New -- their resumes include The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Adele and Kings of Leon
- Ryan Tedder of One Republic and Greg Kurstin, who has worked with Adele, Pink, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson, on Egypt Station
McCartney's last album was McCartney 3 in 2020.
