A 1969 interview Mick Jagger did with the late Australian TV journalist Richard Carleton while filming the movie Ned Kelly Down Under has surfaced on YouTube. Asked why The Beatles are more commercially successful than The Rolling Stones, he says that’s because “they are much better songwriters. But that’s not what rock and roll is about. They are just a very good Rock and Roll band and we love them dearly, bless their little moptops.” Asked if he likes songwriting, he says, “That’s my job. That’s what I like doing most. I’m not really on the music side. I leave that to my friend Keith.”
