Journey; One Yay and Two Nays...

According to Neal Schon's wife, not everyone is on board with co-founder and former singer and keyboardist Gregg Rolie joining them on their 50th anniversary tour.

While nothing has been made official about Rolie, Michaele Schon writes on Facebook, "Two band members are an 'adamant no' against [him] to return.

"Life is so precious -- Neal and Gregg agree. Who wants to have that feeling? Truly sad.

"Music is for inspiration and joy! Everyone LOVES you Gregg Rolie and respects who you are and ALL you have been and are to Journey, for without YOU picking up Neal Schon from school, Journey would not exist.

"Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie will be somewhere together at least one time this year in honor of what they began in 1972.

Faith, let’s ask God to find a way for them. Let’s pray for forgiveness for those who hurt Gregg Rolie and hope they learn what spirituality is someday..."

In 2019, Schon and Rolie, along with Journey drummer Deen Castronovo, did a handful of dates as Journey Through Time.

Journey has two casino dates on January 27th and 28th in Durant, Oklahoma before the 50th anniversary tour, with Toto opening, officially gets under way on February 4th in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Hot Takes:

  • Obviously it's Jonathan Cain who doesn't want Rolie on the tour.
  • No reason to think Castronovo has any issue, and he'd be the last one to ruffle any feathers since he's lucky to be back in the band after being fired in 2015 following a domestic dispute.
  • Same goes for singer Arnel Pineda. He is the vocalist, but he was given the gift of a lifetime when Schon found videos on YouTube of him singing in his native Philippines.
  • It would be nice to have Rolie along for some songs to celebrate the band's history.
  • It would be a miracle if Steve Perry joined them.
