Well, it seems that embattled Pink Floyd rocker Roger Waters has an ally within the band- reluctant or not. Recently we told you that Waters’ bandmate, drummer Nick Mason, signed a petition to reinstate Waters after a number of German shows cancelled him due to allegations of anti-Semitism.
Well, now Mason has “annoyingly” given his blessing to Waters’ solo recording of Floyd’s legendary album “Dark Side Of The Moon.” Stating that he was originally concerned the controversial singer/songwriter would “go head-to-head” with the band’s 50th anniversary issue, Mason admits he’s heard Waters’ version… and approves.
“He actually sent me a copy of what he was working on,” confessed Mason. “And I write to him and said, ‘Annoyingly, it’s absolutely brilliant!’ It was and is. It’s not anything that would be a spoiler for the original at all, it’s an interesting add-on to the thing.” Waters’ update on the classic LP is due out in May.
