Sting has advice for any bands looking to reunite, like he did with The Police in 2007.
He tells Music Week, "You should do it once and the timing should be right. When The Police reunited it had been long enough and it was the right time to do it."
But don't look for them to do it again, as he says that would be "gratuitous... We did it, and everyone was happy that Mum and Dad got back together again and had one last fling."
He says, “I’m happy not to be in a band," adding that they "didn’t even try” to make new music then because it was all about "nostalgia [and] recreating that thing for a short time.”
Sting also says he has no plans to wind down anytime soon. “I’m not wearing a corset or anything. As long as I can get into my rock star pants, I’ll be fine.”
Sting will be honored as a Fellow of the Ivors Academy at the Ivor Novello Awards on May 18th in London followed by a European tour starting on June 1st in Bilbao, Spain.
Sting will perform at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, October 14th
